WHO WE ARE

LT Custom Creations is a design and manufacturing business specialising in recycled plastic products. It was founded by Luke Turk in February 2022 as an attempt to reduce plastic waste.

MISSION

Our mission at LT Custom Creations is to provide quality recycled plastic products to people in Australia who want to shop sustainably. By only selling products made from 100% recycled plastic (post-consumer plastic), we aim to address our plastic waste problem.

WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

Between 2017 and 2018, a total of 3.4 million tonnes of plastics were consumed in Australia – enough to fill well over 1400 Olympic swimming pools with solid plastic. Of that, only 9.4% was recycled! The remaining 3.1 million tonnes ended up in landfill, our natural environment, was incinerated, or exported for recycling. Given that the global plastic recycling rate sits at about 10%, it is unlikely that much of that exported plastic waste was actually recycled. We are not properly caring for our planet. Rather, we are trashing it.

HOW?

At LT Custom Creations we are doing our part in plastic recycling, one plastic type at a time, beginning with HDPE (High Density Polyethylene). HDPE is recyclable thermoplastic found in toys, shampoo bottles, laundry detergent bottles, plastic crates, coke bottle lids milk bottles, amongst many other products. It is a fantastic and versatile plastic that we make in Australia! It has amazing durability, it is chemical resistant, UV resistant, it does not leach toxins, and it is dishwasher safe.

We take these recyclable shampoo bottles and milk bottles made from HDPE and turn them into products such as our recycled plastic coasters, for sale on our online gift shop.
